Here is my take on GOTG Vol 2. In a word, AWESOME. I was a little worried about this one. It had a lot to live up to as the first installment was probably one of my favorite Marvel movies. From the first time seeing the trailer months ago I was all in. It definitely lived up to the hype and delivered in a big way. The best part of a sequel to a comic movie is that there is not a lot of character development and they get right in to it. And they did in a major way. I hear a lot of people saying “It was too silly.” It was silly and that’s part of its charm. With all of its fun it also gives you a kick in the feels.
One of the biggest stars in this movie is definitely the soundtrack. Much like the first I had forgotten about most of the songs used in this movie. I was reintroduced so classics like Parliament’s “Flashlight” or Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” These were seamlessly blended in to the action almost as if they were written for the movie.
Kudos to St. Louis’ own James Gunn for what is now officially my 2nd favorite Marvel movie. Second only to the first GOTG.
